Ryan migrated up the California coast before beginning his work at Recursion. He holds a B.S. from the University of California, San Diego in Biochemistry and Cell Biology and then transitioned to the Claremont Colleges for a Masters and Ph.D. at Keck Graduate Institute where he worked on vaccines against infectious diseases that were made using tobacco plants. He then studied as a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University where he worked on therapeutic approaches for treating Muscular Dystrophy and Huntington’s disease. On weekends, one might find Ryan bargain hunting in local thrift shops, enjoying art galleries, or exploring nature with his wife Eowyn and retired service dog Gia.
