Mary Ann received her BS in Microbiology from Penn State University. After graduation, she moved to New Jersey to work as a Microbiologist in Antibacterial Drug Discovery at Merck and Company. She continued Graduate studies at Rutgers University. She attributes most of her post-PSU education, however, to being a member of the team that discovered Cancidas, a systemic antifungal agent. In this role, she transitioned to in vivo pharmacology and has spent much of her subsequent career developing and executing on in vivo models for human and animal drug discovery in multiple therapeutic areas, including antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antiprotozoal and diabetes. In her free time, Mary Ann enjoys spending time with her family, exercising (Taebo, spinning and running), and eating. Her new goal is to explore everything outdoors that the West has to offer, excluding the tarantulas.
