Carl was born and raised in North England in the town of Huddersfield. He attended his hometown University obtaining a Masters in Chemistry. Following the completion of his studies Carl joined GSK working in the cardiovascular therapy area.
In 2006, Carl moved to the US with GSK and continued working in the cardiovascular area for the next ten years. Most recently, Carl has worked in the neuroscience field, designing compounds that can cross the blood brain barrier. During his time in industry Carl has contributed to several candidate selections and authored numerous patents and papers.
Carl joined Recursion as a medicinal chemist to utilize both pheontypic screening and AI, two technologies he believes will improve the success rate of drug discovery.
In his spare time you will find Carl outdoors. He is an avid rock climber, ice climber, runner and skier.
