Poised at the crossroads of biology and computation, Recursion is disrupting the pharmaceutical industry’s approach to drug discovery. Our unique platform leverages the most advanced high-throughput scalable biology, automation, and artificial intelligence to rapidly discover treatments for rare diseases, inflammatory diseases, immuno-oncology, cardiovascular disease, aging, and more.

Our approach to scalable, high-dimensional biology allows us to rapidly find potential treatments for many diseases at a rapid pace. Our Innovation and Enabling Biology team identifies advanced and relevant in vitro models, across a number of therapeutic areas, and advanced high-dimensional assays to advance the therapeutic boundaries of our platform. This team performs platform-enabling pilot experiments to validate new methods and assays before transitioning them to the High Throughput biology team.

Your work as part of our Innovation and Enabling Biology team will significantly increase the speed of our drug discovery platform and will help us achieve our mission of discovering 100 treatments by 2025. Your primary goal will be to do whatever it takes to help us bring treatments to patients, and your responsibilities will include the use of traditional wet-bench techniques, tissue culture, microscopy, and various liquid handling machinery to help develop novel assays.

This role is ideal for you if you aren’t afraid of failure and you can think outside of the box to innovate and improve processes. We think you are our next hire if your attention to detail is second to none, you prefer to do things appropriately the first time, and people lovingly refer to you as having “golden hands.”

For this role, we are looking for researchers who are:

  • Detail-oriented - We want researchers who sweat the small stuff. Precision, accuracy, and perseverance are crucial to this position and will be rewarded.

  • Imaginative  - We want researchers who get a thrill out of solving problems. Some of these problems we may not realize we have yet. You will help us identify opportunities for success and design experiments to test our (and your) hypotheses.

  • Hands on - We want researchers who get their hands dirty. The lab is your domain and you will be using your traditional wet-lab skills to design and execute new processes on our state-of-the-art equipment.

  • Efficient - We want researchers who drive results in the smartest, fastest way possible. You will work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Degree: BS and higher in cellular and molecular biology
  • Experience: Familiarity of tissue culture and basic molecular lab techniques are a must and experience with automation, high-throughput scanners, and microscopy are strongly desired
  • Ability to design, execute, analyze, and troubleshoot experiments
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Good writing skills for experimental reporting
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Coverage of health, vision, and dental insurance premiums (in most cases 100%)
  • 401(k) with generous matching
  • Flexible, generous vacation/sick leave
  • Company-provided lunches, snacks, and beverages to keep you fueled up and focused
  • Industry-leading paid maternity, paternity, and adoption leave
  • Two one-week company closures during the winter holidays and during the peak of summer
  • Short and long-term disability insurance
  • Impressive office & laboratory space located in Research Park (near the University of Utah)
  • Showers, lockers, bike parking, nearby trail access - to facilitate an active and outdoorsy lifestyle
